Earthrounders Back in Canada
admincopa
Steven and Bob Dengler are on the home stretch of their helicopter circumnavigation of the world. The father and son team re-entered Canada last week from Alaska more or less on schedule to complete the Canada 150 Global Odyssey in Vaughan, Ontario later this month. Wildfire smoke in much of B.C. prevented a planned tour of that province so Fort St. John was their only stop there. The duo spent the early part of this week zig zagging across the Prairies, visiting various cities in Alberta and Saskatchewan all with a goal of raising money for the South Lake Foundation for a cancer care hospital near Toronto and True Patriot Love in support of veterans and their families.
After leaving Ottawa on July 1, the pilots, flying a new Bell 429 Global Ranger built at Mirabel headed through Quebec and the Maritimes before hopscotching across the Atlantic and going through Europe and Russia. Along the way, they made a point of stopping at historic sites, including Vimy Ridge and Signal Hill. They flew mostly VFR and they’re about a week behind schedule after weather delays in Nunavut and Greenland.
