I have always loved flying and adventure. I started learning to fly ultralights about 15 years ago. Then with the birth of our first daughter and life, put a hold on flying. I really got started 6 years ago when I soloed in Wetaskiwin. After receiving my recreational permit, I continued flying with a friend at Innisfail. That is where I got the opportunity to purchase my 1956 Cessna 172. Three months of nonstop work and I had a 0 time engine, converted registration to owner maintenance, and started flying my own aircraft. During the process of rebuilding I have become friends with my local AME and I work with him part time to gain experience and knowledge.
Soon after I had my plane flying I joined the Innisfail Flying Club. We have a great group at COPA Flight 130. I found it very easy to get involved with this great group and soon I found myself in the Vice Presidents position. After a couple flyin’s and COPA for Kids events, things got a little hectic. We hosted the 2019 COPA Convention. If you were there and we did not meet, I apologize, I was a little busy.I believe that I would make a good representative. I have a very strong passion for aviation. I would like to see more people involved in aviation. We have a great many places to fly in Alberta , and some under utilized back country strips and smaller rural strips.
I believe, we as pilots could do more for youth and community. In my 12 years as a volunteer firefighter, I have learned many skills that will help me meet this goal. Leadership, team work, risk assessment, public safety and tact will be very helpful in this position.
I live in Sylvan Lake, Alberta with my wife and two daughters. I have been a heavy Duty/automotive journeyman for 18 years and currently work for Red Deer Emergency Services as an Emergency Vehicle Technician. I enjoy sharing my adventures on instagram @fyrmech
Thank you.
