Six teenagers incarcerated in the Agassiz Youth Centre in Portage la Prairie Manitoba tried to escape by crawling under a fence last Friday evening. Police were alerted while the attempted escape was underway. The last teen was caught before he could make his escape, though.

“On May 29, at 6:30 p.m., Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of six young offenders attempting to escape from the Agassiz Youth Centre in Portage la Prairie,” said RCMP media relations officer Sergeant Paul Manaigre.

The five others, all males and ranging in age from 15 to 18 years old, were then pursued by the RCMP, who employed a drone and one of their trained dogs from the K-9 department. It is not clear, however, whether it was the new technology or the old method that did the final tracking down.

The teens now face charges of escaping lawful custody and prison breach.
