Earlier this week Nav Canada announced that air navigation services (ANS) during nighttime, suspended in May due to the COVID-19 pandemic, are to be restored at five Atlantic Canada locations: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; Saint John, New Brunswick, Sydney, Nova Scotia and both Deer Lake and St. Anthony, Newfoundland and Labrador.

The ANS provider said in a statement that it had done so after consulting with local health authorities and in consideration of evolving operational requirements. The move comes after some air services are resuming after earlier suspensions.

Facilities where service adjustments are being made include air traffic control towers, flight service stations and locations that receive remote aerodrome advisories.

Changes in the hours of service are scheduled to take place at 22:00 local time on Tuesday, August 18. Details will also be announced via NOTAMs.

In the same announcement, Nav Canada stated that overnight service at Red Deer, Alberta and Prince Albert’s Glass Field in Saskatchewan remain suspended.

Nav Canada continues to restrict visitor access at all their operational facilities due to the pandemic.
