Orbis Reorganizes Pull For Sight Event
admincopa
In yet another innovative solution to a cancelled 2020 aviation-related event, Orbis Canada, known for their annual plane-pulling fund-raising events, has organized the 20/20 Virtual Plane Pull For Sight event. Three land-based events scheduled this year for Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The virtual fund-raising event will be Zoom-based and is scheduled for September 12 to 14, 2020. More details on how to donate and/or participate in this unique event can be found by clicking here. Orbis Canada is a registered charitable organization.
Orbis, an international not-for-profit organization founded in 1982, operates a flying hospital that is used to travel to remote sites around the world to provide vision-related health care to those in need. Now on its third aircraft model, a McDonnell Douglas DC-10 donated by FedEx, the organization transformed the aircraft into a complete ophthalmic hospital, similar to land-based facilities, complete with a 46-seat classroom used for training local health care workers, a water treatment facility, air conditioning and a back-up electrical generator.
A video tour of the aircraft is available by clicking here.
