Multidisciplined Techs To Be Trained

admincopa

The Canadian Council for Aviation & Aerospace (CCAA) has issued a request for proposals to manage its CCAA Student Work Integrated Learning Program (SWILP) for multidisciplinary aircraft maintenance technicians. CCAA has been chosen by the federal government to create a program to place 1,000 students with appropriate employers for four-year workplace training programs and the students’ wages are subsidized under the program. Aerospace is one of several sectors targeted by the federal program to address labour shortages in fields that rely on science, technology, engineering, math and business training.

CCAA says it’s working with companies and colleges “to develop an innovative training program which will alternate school and work terms.” The program will combine the skills of maintenance techs with those of avionics and interiors techs to create “multidisciplinary technicians.” Closing date for proposals is Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. EST.
