Qualicum Beach, on Vancouver Island, hosts its annual fly-in and airshow on July 8. The well-equipped airport owes many of its nice amenities to a visit from Queen Elizabeth in the 1980s. She wanted to visit a friend and the volunteer-run facility wasn’t up to royal standards so the provincial government poured hundreds of thousands into upgrades, including a nice terminal.
