Restored Warbird To Be Unveiled in Calgary
admincopa
A gala event is planned for November 7 in Calgary, Alberta when the Hangar Flight Museum unveils its newly restored Hawker Hurricane, the British-designed, Canadian-manufactured single-seat fighter aircraft that played such an important role during the Second World War.
The restored Hurricane, s/n 5389, has been undergoing restoration by Greg Davis, with the help of others, in a hangar in Wetaskiwin, Alberta (and was reported on in a previous eFlight newsletter). The project has taken Davis over six years.
In January of 1943, Flight Officer Gordon Hill began training on this very Hurricane at N. 1 Operational Training Unit at Bagotville, Quebec. Mr. Hill will also be present at the unveiling in November.
Cocktails and hors d’œuvres will be served at the unveiling ceremony.
