Rockliffe Renewal On Horizon

admincopa

The Rockliffe Flying Club is embarking on a renewal plan that should set it up for its second century of service to general aviation in the Ottawa area. The club is hoping to rebuild and expand facilities including the construction of new terminal and club headquarters, a large hangar and T-hangars for purchase by aircraft operators. “The Rockcliffe Flying Club (RFC) was established a 100 years ago,” the club says in promotional material for its Vision 2020 plan. “However, the times had changed and our club has to adapt to the changing business environment to improve, rejuvenate, and excel in modern times.”

T-hangars will be built first and it’s hoped construction can begin in September of 2018. Each T-hangar building will have six individual units and they will be offered for sale to the public at $75,000 each. The project will be self financing in that regard and its scope will depend on demand. The construction must also be approved by the National Capital Commission. The timelines for the other two projects are less defined but the club says the clubhouse building is out of date and not serving the club well. It said there have been numerous inquiries about the establishment of a large hangar that could house an FBO for larger aircraft.
